Sailing for Schools

Dorchester Sailing Club can offer school groups one off taster days and more regular weekly sessions. We can help you meet the needs of the outdoor education requirements of the national curriculum.

After School Sailing Club

Dorchester Sailing Club are offering an opportunity for school pupils from 8 to 18 to learn to sail, or to improve their sailing. The instructing follows the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme syllabus.RYA Youth Sailing Scheme syllabus Dorchester Sailing Club is a recognised RYA training centre.

Each sailor receives an RYA logbook and is awarded the appropriate certificate once they have completed one of the stages.

We have a long tradition of teaching young people to sail. We have for many years had regular training for our own members and four years ago we decided to start a training day for local schools. This initiative was pioneered in 2013 with  Watlington Primary School. In 2016 we had students from seven local schools sailing at Dorchester.

The After School Club runs on a Wednesday from approximately 3:30pm until 5:45.


Cost: £8.00 per sailor for each two hour session.

A parent or someone appointed in loco parentis must remain on site for each student during the session.

Term Dates: 2017
Easter Term: 26th April, and 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th May.
Summer Term: 7th, 14th, 21st, June and 5th 12th July. (No session on 28th June)
Autumn term: (Provisional) 6th, 13th, 20st, and 27th September and 4th and 11th October.
